Seeds

We have to name our disease before we can be healed from it.  It is hard work, this digging into ourselves.  But we have to dig up the roots of bad seeds if we want to uproot the deformed trees we have in ourselves.

This might be a hard list to read, but it is important.  Have you been given any of these seeds? Seeds like – “Don’t date somebody outside of your race.  Don’t read holy books from other faith traditions.  Don’t have gay friends.  You are fat /lazy / ugly. You need to get a better job.  You need to support your parents when they get old, even if they are abusive.”

We are told to “be a good girl/boy”. “Good” is often defined as obedient and submissive.  This keeps the status quo.  This often keeps them happy but you stunted.

Drop the poison seeds.  Don’t take them into yourself. Grow into the light.  Protect yourself from this dis-ease.  Their fear doesn’t have to be your fear. Sometimes others try to give us their pain and problems, but we don’t have to take them.

Our minds are our biggest hang ups. See your mind as a sense organ. Like your eyes or ears it is limited and faulty.  It is not able to relay all information. Ask questions.  Learn more about the situation.  Learn why.  Why can’t I have friends of other faiths, other traditions, other ways of living? Is there something to be afraid of? Ignorance and fear are closely related.  The cure for ignorance is knowledge.

Would you eat something without checking the ingredients?  What if it is all calories and carbs and fat, and no vitamins or minerals?  The same is true of ideas.  Test them out.  Are they helpful? Are they true?

About betsybeadhead

Hello, and Welcome. My name is Betsy, and I like beads and prayers. Fortunately those two things are more related than I ever realized. You are invited to “like” my Facebook page titled “Betsy Beadhead” and thus see what I’m talking about in my posts when I try to explain something using beads rather than words. This whole thing started because of that. Then I couldn't figure out how to post pictures so I just started writing. I string together words the same way I string together beads, and both serve the same purpose. I work at a library, surrounded by ideas brushing up against each other. I draw, paint, and collage. I study world religions. In all these experiences I like combining different things and making new things, and stretching my understanding of what “is” and what “has to be.” You are welcome to share my posts - just please give credit where credit is due. I'm anti-censorship but I'm also anti-plagiarism.
