Try something new.  Try to set aside every day as a time for God.  This doesn’t mean to set aside a time for God every day.  This means to make the whole day a day for God. This means to see everything and everyone as a messenger from God.  This means to welcome everything and everyone as divinely sent.

This isn’t easy to do, and not everything and everyone is that great to meet.  Some experiences are downright scary.  Some are simply boring. Do it anyway.  Every day, draw a line around the day.  Stand inside that place, waiting for God.  It is like cleaning your house, waiting for a guest to come.

Set the intention every morning that today is a sacred day.  Set the intention that this day is God’s day, and this day is special.  It is like going on a retreat every day of your life.  This way, everything has a special luster.  Everything is a message.  Everything has more meaning.   It makes you more alert.  It means that you don’t take anything for granted.  It means that you are waiting, lamp lit, for the Bridegroom to come.

About betsybeadhead

Hello, and Welcome. My name is Betsy, and I like beads and prayers. Fortunately those two things are more related than I ever realized. You are invited to “like” my Facebook page titled “Betsy Beadhead” and thus see what I’m talking about in my posts when I try to explain something using beads rather than words. This whole thing started because of that. Then I couldn't figure out how to post pictures so I just started writing. I string together words the same way I string together beads, and both serve the same purpose. I work at a library, surrounded by ideas brushing up against each other. I draw, paint, and collage. I study world religions. In all these experiences I like combining different things and making new things, and stretching my understanding of what “is” and what “has to be.” You are welcome to share my posts - just please give credit where credit is due. I'm anti-censorship but I'm also anti-plagiarism.
